Faisal's Pyracantha

Faz ventured to Suffolk todat with a Pyracantha to work on. Faisal had removed half a dozen stumps from a neighbouring garden. Unfortunately they were cut down  leaving little scope for developing taper and movement as the owner had cut the trees to stumps
Although the nebari, or root structure was better in the first picture, it was decided that  the other side would offer better movement, taper and interest

After movement and taper was  roughly carved, the outside was sanded by Faz
There was a lot of fresh wood that needs to dry before refining. The internal parts of the tree were torched to remove tool marks and add contrast to help with the next session.
